We are really pleased that more families are making an effort to walk to and from school each day. During the week commencing Monday 21st May we would ask all of our families who do not already walk to school to really try and do so at least one day during the week.
As it is the year of the Olympics why not try “The Quick Walk” that week – pupils walk to school as fast as they can – without breaking into a run or sprint.

We would like to invite all parents and carers of Year One children to a meeting at 9:00a.m. on Wednesday 23rd May in our hall. During the meeting Mrs Callaghan will be explaining how we teach phonics to our children at Parklands and will be telling you what a lot of the terms used in this teaching mean. We hope that at the end of the meeting you will have gained ideas of ways in which you can help your children. Do come along, you will be made very welcome.
Mrs Callaghan will hope to finish on time but may slightly over run.

If you would like to help in Parklands on this day have a word with your childs teacher. it will not be necessary for you to have CRB clearance.

Come dressed in red, white and blue as it is non - uniform day.

Year 2 are visiting the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. The bus will be leaving from school at 8.20am so children will need to be in school earlier that morning.

Children are encouraged to come to school on Green Day (Thursday 14th June) wearing something green. On this day we will be having lots of activities to reinforce the teaching that we do at Parklands with regard to caring for our environment.

25 year 2 children will be chosen to attend a coaching session at Nottingham Tennis Centre during the morning. In the afternoon they will have the opportunity to watch some of the ATP Challenge tour matches.
There will be no charge for this trip.

The School photographer will be in today to take photographs of individual children.There will also be an opportunity for family photographs aswell.

A disco organised by Friends of Parklands will take place in the evening. Times will be advised when known.

Year 1 children will be visiting the National Forest Adventure Farm.

Parents and carers are invited to meet and talk with the reception staff in the evening.

Semi- finals will be held to see which of our children make it to the final.

A group will be working with children from reception, year 1 and 2 during the day.

Children will visit new classes.

All Parklands children will be taking part in our sports day. There is also the opportunity for some of the parents to take part. Children can come to school in their PE kit for the day if they wish.
Everyone is welcome to come and watch.

Children in our Infant School will be taking part in a variety of different sports during this week either at Parklands or in other local schools.

Friends of Parklands are organising our summer event. Come along and support us if you can.

An exciting day , keep practising your routine. Who will win? The final will take place in front of the whole school. Children could recite a poem, sing with or without musical accompaniment, perform magic shows, act etc..

Please make sure that your child has their costume in school for the dress rehearsal. There are rehearsals in the morning and afternoon.

A theatre company are coming into school to perform for the children.

Come and have a great time with your friends.Time is still to be confirmed. Letter will follow closer to the event.
