Friends of Parklands

Parklands School

Friends of Parklands are a group of parents and carers who work together as a team to support our school in valuable fund raising.
Throughout the year we try to organise various events to generate funds which our families and children can enjoy. These events include disco's, Summer, Easter and Christmas fayres and fashion shows. All of the money raised goes straight back to the school for the provision of additional items that are of benefit to our school and children's education.
Friends of Parklands usually only meet once a month and we know that not everyone can attend all the meetings, but any suggestions you have or support you can give is invaluable.
We aren't just about working to raise funds, over the years many strong friendships have formed and great support networks, but most importantly you become involved in our school.

Gardening

Parklands School

Gardening club is open to Year 2 children. We meet on Thursday lunchtime. The children help to care for the garden, weeding, gathering leaves and planting seeds. In the time it has been running we have grown sweet peas, sunflowers and tomatoes. We have entered the National Potato Council's potato growing competition for 2 years - the children were tremendously excited when we dug up our crop!
During the winter months when it is not possible to go into the garden we have learnt about garden birds. We also have a bird feeding rota to care for our garden birds.
We have entered the Erewash in Bloom competition for 3 years. The judge made many positive comments this year so we are hopeful.
