I'm Matt and I am currently a parent governor at Parklands Infant and Nursery School. I have been involved with Parklands since 2009 when my eldest daughter started in the nursery/pre-school and one of my two sons is currently enjoying all that the nursery has to offer!
I was very keen to get involved with the governing body as it offers a unique opportunity to have a real impact on the educational experiences of my children and their peers. As a parent of school aged children I think it is sometimes easy to sit on the sidelines and feel a bit removed from what is going on within school - being a governor has given me the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of what is happening within school and to support, challenge, question and encourage the leadership of the school as they seek to make the school the best it can be.
I am currently part of the school improvement committee and we meet regularly to discuss and assess how the school is doing against its aims and objectives. This is really important in ensuring that our children get the best possible experience from Parklands and leave having achieved to their full potential. I bring to this role more than a decade of experience in analysing and interpreting data which helps to make sense of all the evidence produced by Parklands staff. Fifteen years teaching experience within higher education also comes in handy sometimes! I am proud to be a governor at such a vibrant, inclusive and caring school that continues to strive to do even better for all of its children.
