My name is Richard Harris; I was appointed as the Local Authority Governor at Parklands in September 2013. I was then elected as the Child Protection and Safeguarding Governor and also the Equalities and Inclusion Governor in October 2014. I have also been appointed on to the School’s Policies Sub -Committee and also the Curriculum and School Improvement Sub-Committees. At the age of 26, I feel it is time to put something back into the education system in Derbyshire, from which I have taken so much. I have a degree in Computer Networks and Enterprise Management from the University of Derby. I have a passion for the arts and sport, especially football and cricket. I have a long standing affiliation with Parklands, having previously worked as an IT Technician at Wilsthorpe Community School where I also provided a campus support service to the four other schools on campus including Parklands. I bring with me a wealth of experience of working on both the professional side of the public sector and also with the elected side of public service. With this I bring a vast knowledge of the education system, specialising in SEND, equality and diversity and IT Governance. I also have experience of teaching IT and computing.
