Autumn Term

The question for the second half of the Autumn Term is:

Which materials would the aliens take back to their planet?

Our weekly questions are:

  • What are the aliens looking for?

  • Will the aliens accept your underpants?

  • Who was Kandinsky?

  • Can you be a good scientist?

  • What would be the best material for the alien’s umbrella?

In Maths we will be working hard on addition and subtraction. We will start by using part whole models and number lines to help us add and then move on to subtraction.

In RWI we will be moving onto Set 2 and Set 3 sounds. We will be assessing the children in the first week back to decide which sounds they need to learn.

The question for the first half of the Autumn term is 'Could we be Long Eaton travel guides?'

The questions we will be exploring are:

  • Where do we live?
  • Where in the United Kingdom is Long Eaton?
  • What do we like and dislike about Long Eaton?
  • Where in the United Kingdom has Wally been?
  • Can you use plants to make a healthy snack?
  • How do we know the United Kingdom is an island?
  • Where in Long Eaton is Wally hiding?

Remember to ask your children about these questions to test their knowledge!

In Maths this term we have lots planned. We will be introducing the children to Power Maths, which we use in all lessons to help us develop our maths skills! Our first focus for this half term is deepening the children's understanding of numbers up to 10, especially looking at place value.

We will be continuing with the phonics part of Read Write Inc and also having daily English lessons to work on our reading and writing skills.
