Hello from the Parklands Eco Team!
We are a small group of parents, staff and pupils who lead activities within the school to promote environmental issues and ‘being green’.
In 2011 we were awarded our first Eco-Schools Green Flag for our hard work. Since then, we have been awarded greens in 2014, 2018 and 2020. We take part in many national initiatives such as Switch-Off Fortnight and Waste Week as well as ongoing efforts in school to improve recycling, keep our campus litter-free and learn about wildlife in our gardens.
The highlight of the year is our annual Green Day. In May 2019, we held our very own Preventing Plastic Pollution Day!
We learnt about the importance of recycling plastics and single use plastics. We learnt about how plastic is polluting our oceans and killing our beautiful sealife. Severn Trent visited us and taught us ways in which we can ensure we do not pollute or waste water.
In May 2018, we held our very own
In 2018 we won joint 1st prize for the Best School Garden!
The pages below outline exactly what we have done in order to achieve our Green Flag award across lots of different areas! Please have a look!
