Hello from the Parklands Eco Team!
We are a small, friendly group of parents, staff and pupils who lead activities within the school to promote environmental issues and ‘being green’.
In 2011 we were awarded our first Eco-Schools Green Flag for our hard work. We earned our second one in 2014 and our third in 2018. We take part in many national initiatives such as Feed the Birds Day, Switch-Off Fortnight and Waste Week as well as ongoing efforts in school to improve recycling, keep our campus litter-free and learn about wildlife in our gardens.
The highlight of the year is our annual Green Day. In May 2018, we held our very own Bumblebee Day!
We learnt about the important role of bees. A beekeeper visited us and by upcycling materials, each class made items such as bee homes and bee feeders to encourage bees into our school environment. We also held a BAKE OFF using locally sourced honey in our recipies! YUMMY!
We won joint 1st prize for the Best School Garden 2018!
The pages below outline exactly what we have done in order to achieve our Green Flag award across lots of different areas! Please have a look!
