Attendance

At Parklands we want the very best for our children. Good attendance is vital in ensuring that children reach their potential: lost days add up to lost learning! We understand that some absences are unavoidable and we would want to be able to support you in these circumstances.

crying If your child is absent for any reason, please inform school as soon as possible - this can be done either by telephoning the school office or sending and e-mail. If this is impossible, you must give the reason for absence to your child's class teacher upon their return to school

crying Where possible, medical appointments should be made out of school hours. If this isn't possible you must inform the school and fill out a medical absence slip. We wouldn't expect a whole day's absence for a medical appointment. If you believe that a medical appointment may take an entire day, please speak to the class teacher explaining why. You may be asked for proof of an appointment.

devil Holidays are not permitted during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. If your child needs to take term time leave, please make an appointment to see Mrs Callaghan at least 2 weeks beforehand.

crying If you are struggling to get your child to school or to get them to school on time, please speak to us about it - there may be support we can offer!

devil Please don't think that odd days of absence here or there don't matter because they do. We cannot stress enough the importance of regular attendance and the impact on your child's education! Attendance is monitored by the county's Education Welfare Officer.

crying If your child has to be absent from school for any period of time, please ask their class teacher for ways in which you can support their education while they are away from school.

last year we achieved an attendance rate of over 96%!!!! We are very proud of our children and families for this and hopefully we will be able to achieve even more this year!
