Mrs Sophie Evitts - Chair of Governors
I am Deputy Headteacher at a local special school and have worked in education for nearly 20 years. I have worked my way up from a nurture Teaching Assistant into Leadership over this time. I have always worked with disadvantaged groups, focusing on raising aspirations and ambition for those with SEND, from disability to mental health. In my current role, I advise schools on their SEND provision and assessment as well as delivering training related to SEND.
I have 4 children, all boys. Working in a school during the pandemic alongside being a mum, gave me a real insight into the pressures and impact caused by the pandemic, but also the impact of children of all ages, still to this day. This is why I am so passionate about all children getting the right start and maximum opportunities from as young as possible. I hope my experience in leadership, strategic development and external partnership working give me the skills and knowledge to govern the offer provided to all children at Parklands, ensuring they get the absolute best possible start in their educational journey.
