Business Interests: None

My name is Abby Etchells and I am a Teacher Governor at Parklands Infant and Nursery School. I have taught at Parklands since January 2000 so I have seen many changes at the school and feel as though Parklands is a large part of life.
I have had two children through the school, both whom have thoroughly enjoyed their time and had a great start to their academic life. Having seen Parklands through the eyes of a teacher and then a parent, I feel I now have the opportunity to see the workings of the school through different eyes as part of my Governor role. I see my role as being an important link between the staff and the Governing Body, where I can share the views and feelings of the teachers and the Teaching Assistants. In October 2014 I was appointed to the Policies Sub-Committee and I was also appointed to the role of EYFS Governor.
Outside of my life at Parklands, I enjoy spending time with my family – my two children and my husband, who is also a teacher. We like to be outdoors and enjoy walking in the countryside and love to have family days out and holidays together. I also enjoy watching sport, particularly with my sports-mad son! We are all keen Leicester Tigers fans and I have managed to indoctrinate the whole family into supporting my beloved Chelsea football club!
